Taylor Swift’s Iconic SoHo Loft from 1989 Album Shoot Hits Market at $3.2 Million

5.4KViews

The loft-style residence where Taylor Swift captured the iconic Polaroids for her renowned 1989 album is currently available for purchase through the Agency. Originally listed at $6.25 million in 2017 and subsequently reduced to $3.7 million in October 2023, the property’s price has now been further lowered by $500,000 to $3.2 million. The owner, Sarah Johnson, is the daughter of Charles Johnson, a billionaire financier and majority owner of the San Francisco Giants. Johnson transformed the two-story unit, situated in the 12-story MacIntyre Building at 874 Broadway in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, by combining the third and fourth floors. The lower floor was previously owned by Tannaz Hazemi, a film director who assisted Swift during the memorable 1989 photoshoot.

The combined unit exudes an authentic artist’s loft ambiance, offering three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and boasting 12-foot ceilings. Noteworthy features include a distinctive steel-and-glass staircase adorned with tree branches, a luxurious copper tub, and a rolling library ladder leading to a loft-style storage space. Adding to the unique charm is a former exposed elevator shaft now enclosed in glass.

The spiral stairs guide residents to the main bedroom, featuring a custom platform bed, a walk-in closet, an ensuite bath, and an adjacent windowed home office. On the lower floor, a hallway opens up to reveal an expansive living and dining area, seamlessly integrated with an open chef’s kitchen that includes a vintage Tiffany-blue refrigerator.
