15.8KViews

Los Angeles-based interior designer Oliver Furth brought his vibrant and fearless approach to color when tackling a new home in the Bird Streets above Sunset Boulevard. The 1948-built, three-bedroom, four-bathroom residence exuded island vibes, surrounded by bamboo hedges and a swimming pool in the backyard. Drawing inspiration from warmer climates, Furth embraced a colorful palette, infusing each space with bold hues and eclectic patterns. The design aimed to create a lively, inviting atmosphere while celebrating the home’s unique architectural features and connection to the outdoors.

The homeowners, a well-traveled finance executive and literary agent couple in their thirties, sought a welcoming and unpretentious yet colorful and functional design for their new home in the Bird Streets above Sunset Boulevard. Embracing a vibrant color palette, designer Oliver Furth aimed to create a luxurious and joyful atmosphere. Considering the literary agent’s need for comfortable lounging spaces due to extensive reading, the design focused on accommodating both entertaining guests and meeting professional requirements.

The interior of the vibrant and color-filled home was designed almost from scratch, with only a few inherited pieces from the couple’s previous homes. The project, featured in designer Oliver Furth’s debut monograph, “Op! Optimistic Interiors” (Rizzoli), showcases a blank slate that represents the couple’s first home set up together. The house reflects Furth’s signature style of embracing color, high-contrast texture, and an optimistic design philosophy.
